ChronolessPrivacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Chronoless app ("the app") uses and how. The app is published by Chronoless LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("we", "us").
The short version
- You don't need an account to use the app.
- Your rifle profiles, shot strings and settings are stored on your device.
- Microphone audio is analyzed on your device to detect shots and is not sent to us.
- When you look up weather, the app sends your approximate location to a weather service. It is not sent to us.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
Information the app uses
Microphone. The acoustic chronograph listens for the muzzle blast and the sound of the bullet striking steel. Audio is processed on your device in real time to measure the time between those sounds. We do not receive or store your audio.
Location. If you allow it, the app uses your location to look up current weather and elevation, to calculate Coriolis effect from your latitude, and to correct the compass to true north. Location is used while you are using the app and is not sent to us.
Motion and pressure sensors. The app reads the phone's barometer for air pressure and its compass for shooting direction. These readings stay on your device.
Camera and photos. If you use group analysis, the app uses a photo you take or choose to measure your group. The photo is processed on your device and is not sent to us.
Information you enter. Rifle, bullet and load details, distances, wind calls and similar data you enter are stored on your device.
Third-party services
To show current weather and elevation, the app sends your approximate coordinates to Open-Meteo, which returns conditions for that location. Open-Meteo's handling of that request is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Weather data is provided by Open-Meteo.com.
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which may collect information under their own privacy policies, such as download and crash statistics.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share your personal information. Because the app keeps your data on your device, we generally don't have it to share.
Your choices
You can turn off microphone, location, camera or photo access at any time in your phone's settings. Features that need that access will stop working until you turn it back on. Deleting the app deletes the data it stored on your device.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. If we add features that send data off your device, such as backup or sync, we will describe them here before they launch.
Website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you.
