Chronoless

Your phone is the chronograph.

Chronoless measures muzzle velocity by listening for the shot and the ring of steel, then solves your dope with that velocity. No radar, no light screens, no extra gear on the bench.

Coming to iPhone and Android

How it works

  1. Hang a steel plate at a taped distance, typically 100 yards, and set your phone on the bench.
  2. Shoot. Chronoless hears the muzzle blast and, a moment later, the bullet striking the steel.
  3. It subtracts the time sound takes to travel back to you, using temperature, humidity, pressure and wind, and solves for the muzzle velocity that matches the flight time.
  4. You get each shot's velocity plus average, standard deviation and extreme spread, just like a chronograph string.

Features

Acoustic chronograph

Live shot detection from the microphone with tap-to-correct markers and string statistics.

Ballistic solver

Point-mass solver with G1 and G7 drag models, spin drift, aerodynamic jump and Coriolis. Turret readout in MOA or MRAD and a dope card.

Conditions from the phone

Station pressure from the phone's barometer, position from GPS, current weather, and shooting direction from the compass. Your own wind call is never overwritten.

Rifle profiles

Rifles, zero offsets, turret clicks, powder temperature sensitivity, and a library of about 800 rifle bullets.

Weather meter entry

Enter station pressure or density altitude, temperature, humidity and wind from a handheld weather meter.

Coming next

Group photo analysis and long-range velocity truing from where your groups land.
